The photoseries "A Vida na Fronteira (The Border Life)" is an amateur photographic material produced by me and my parents (they helped giving support to me, driving me to the places I indicated). This was done in order to materialize the photographer and Photography´s fonction in the society; to show what deserves and has to be showed. In the border, it means to cause a reaction in the observer and in the characters that make part of the photography. Reaction is something that really lacks in that place.
In this photogallery, we have tried to get usual habits and aspects from a social layer so expressive in the most populous frontier from South America. That is the one compound by Foz do Iguaçu, Ciudad del Este and Puerto Iguazú. The region is shown by its natural beauties (Iguassu Falls) and by the men power of building and changing the environment so that it can follow their interests (Itaipu Dam). However, grave problems ravage this region, some elements that are so characteristics as its beauties are, like child work.
Many tourists come to this border, taking advantages from many aspects the place offers, like slow costs and an easy luxury to get access to. Nevertheless, they seem to not see the problematic illnesses the triple Border suffers of. Illnesses that need to be denounced so that all the Brazilian and the world society can see. Could it be the indifference the cause of tourists and "foreign people" "not seeing" those aspects, aspects that don´t have to do with them? Or could it be the alienation the element that governs their minds so that they don´t realize what is in front of their eyes, preventing them to act?
The frontier is not only made by negative aspects and the positive ones will be mentioned to.
