A VIDA NA FRONTEIRA: A MERETRIZ (Border life: the prostitute)

Muitas vezes, fica difícil não enxergar na imagem do país Paraguai e não enxergá-lo como este fosse uma meretriz. Na relação com a prostituta, o cliente está interessado em satisfazer uma necessidade pessoal. Porém, é raro haver a noção de que aquela é um indivíduo que tem uma história, um motivo que a levou até ali e um conjunto de perspectivas. Está-se interessado em ser servido, mas nunca em servir.

Assim é a relação de quem usufrui do que Ciudad del Este oferece. Todos estão interessados nos preços baixos e no luxo fácil que ela provem. A verdade é que todos se esquecem que atrás dos balcões existe um país abandonado e à míngua, com problemas que quase ninguém está efetivamente interessado em resolver... E o que dizer da parte dos turistas? Da parte de quem vem de fora visitar e usufruir dali? A maioria simplesmente não percebe que estes problemas estão ali; visíveis aos seus olhos.

So many times, it is inevitable to look to Paraguay and to see this country as it was a prostitute. In a relation with an one, the consumer is interested in meeting his/her necessities. He/she does not mind if the prostitute has problems or not, in what made her get into this context, in which perspectives she has to her future. He/she is interested in beeing served, but never to serve.
That´s the relation people that take what Ciudad del Este can offer as advantages have with it. Everybody is interested in low costs and easy luxury that it offers. Everybody forgets there is a problematic and abandoned country behind the store counters. Those are problems that nobody seems interested in a solution. What so say about tourists? A big range of them do not realize those issues is there, "visible" to them.
